Shipping & Delivery
Where can I ship a Gift Card to?
American Express Gift Cards can be delivered to the purchaser or the recipient. American Express® Business Gift Cards can only be shipped to the business entity that placed the order.
We don’t ship Gift Cards to PO Boxes, APO or FPO addresses, or international addresses.
How long does it take for a Gift Card to be delivered?
Please see our recommended order-by dates for expected delivery before December 24th:
Standard shipping by December 16th
Expedited shipping by December 18th
Rush shipping by December 21st
Delivery time depends on the shipping method selected. You can opt for Rush (2-3 business days), Expedited (3-4 business days), or Standard (5-6 business days). If your Gift Card order hasn’t arrived within ten business days of placing the order, please call 1-833-205-8622 with your order reference number and the payment card number that was used for the order.
How long does it take for an eGift Card to be delivered?
American Express ® eGift Cards will deliver by email to recipients within 24-48 hours after order is approved.

Why doesn’t my American Express user ID work on AmexGiftCard.com?
AmexGiftCard.com is a separate website with its own user ID and password, and therefore your American Express user ID cannot be used to sign in to the site. Once you create your user ID and password on AmexGiftCard.com, you can sign in to the website and view past orders placed after July 17, 2018, modify personal information, and create an address book for future orders.
Why am I unable to view my American Express payment method details and personal information when I sign in to AmexGiftCard.com?
AmexGiftCard.com is a separate website that does not automatically import your American Express payment method details and personal information from AmericanExpress.com. However, you can set up a user ID and password on AmexGiftCard.com and view past orders placed after July 17, 2018, modify personal information, and create an address book for future orders.
Where can I find my order history?
To view orders placed after July 17, 2018, sign in to AmexGiftCard.com with your user ID and password, and view past orders under My Account. For orders placed before July 17, 2018, please call 1-877-297-4438.
Yes, American Express sells Gift Cards for email delivery. Please select ‘email’ as a delivery type on your choice of card and the follow steps to purchase. Once you have purchased, your email Gift Card can be accessed on AmexGiftCard.com/balance.
What payment methods can I use to purchase a Gift Card?
You can purchase Gift Cards using American Express, Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit cards.
Lost or Stolen Cards
What do I do if my Gift Card is lost or stolen?
If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, you need to notify us immediately by calling 1-833-205-8622. You will be asked to provide us with the Card number and other identifying information. We cannot provide a replacement Card unless you provide your Card number and all other requested information. If our records show a balance remaining on the Card, we will cancel the lost Card and issue a replacement Card to you in an amount equal to the remaining balance.
How do I use my American Express Gift Card?
Simply present your Card at the time of payment. Press "credit" on the keypad and sign the receipt. As you use your Card, the balance is reduced by the full amount of each purchase including taxes, charges, and other fees, if any. You can use your Card to pay the full amount of the purchase and applicable taxes if the balance on the Card is sufficient. If you want to make a purchase for an amount greater than the remaining balance by using two payment methods, you must notify the merchant before completing the transaction.
How do I activate my Gift Card?
If your Gift Card was purchased at AmexGiftCard.com, in most cases, the Card is ready for use immediately. You may activate your Card by signing in to AmexGiftCard.com/balance with your Card details or by calling the toll-free number listed on the back of your Card. You will need to provide your Card number, valid thru date, and security code located on the back of your Card.
We recommend that you sign your name on the back of the Gift Card, and record the following information in case your Gift Card is ever lost or stolen: Gift Card number, 4-digit Card Identification Code on the front of the Card, 3-digit Card Security Code located on the back of the Card, Customer Service phone number.
Where can I use my American Express Gift Card?
You can use your American Express Gift Card virtually anywhere American Express Cards are accepted within the United States and District of Columbia, except the Gift Card may not be used for recurring billing or at ATMs.
Can I use my American Express eGift card in-store?
Yes, your American Express eGift Card can be used in-store to pay when added to digital wallets: Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.
Can I convert an American Express eGift Card into a physical, plastic gift card?
No, we cannot transfer your funds onto a physical gift card.
Can I cancel an order?
Once your order is submitted, it cannot be changed or canceled.
